a bit of our backstory
Let's Be Friends started as a way for our founder to dust off his creative skillset in his (actually pretty dusty) garage and has since grown into a thriving young creative studio in the northern suburbs of Cape Town.
The first real job was visual direction for The Drop — a long-running Nike campaign built for Sportscene stores in 2018. That led to work with Asics, Reebok and Puma.
In 2020, Checkers Sixty60 asked us to help craft a brand identity for a grocery delivery service nobody had heard of yet. We ended up leading the digital design system as it scaled into the giant it is now, and since 2022 we've designed and maintained the front-end components of the app itself. Six years in, we're still on it.
The 3D work started during lockdown, on a sustainability film for an international client. We liked the medium enough to keep going, and it's since become a fun part of the studio offering: product launches, brand stories, anything that works better moving.
